A Momentus Day Our First Egg

Today I on the 16th of April 2009 one of our chickens laid our first egg, I was just changing the bedding and cleaning out the nesting box and there not in the box but underneath some of the straw was a tiny egg, I quickly text kate and let her know and then showed the boys and nowits on the windowcill in its own egg cup.

the weather has been crap this week not done much with the boys apart from played on the wii and poker, me and joe sat and watched knowing on the computer good beginning crap ending.

Great goal from ronaldo last night to put united through for a semi final meeting with the arse.

Joe phoned the guy about drum lessons today going on sat afternoon

Lukes team Discoveries Minteq won their last game 5 3 and need to win their final three to win the title

Kate away this week in Spain she was at Real Madrids stadium having a meal and sent some picture looks impressive.

My voucher has come for my new bike which I should get next week.


Planted more seed in the garden this week broc, cauli, cabbage and the plants in the greenhouse are coming on ok.

Its Spring and we have 6 chickens

April the 12th we got our chickens last week we got 6 in total 2 blue bells, one called blue bell the othe called hetty, two black rocks one called Enid the other called queenie on the account that she escaped the first two nights we had then over the fence, queenie??? I hear you cry Steve McQueen the great escape!!!!!! and two west sussex called Clucky and Doris they have all settled in well and seem content, i built their chicken coop for them and they seem right at home.

Kate had a nice week off last week we didnt do much apart from get our chickens plsy on the wii fit and play poker with the kids. She baked a lot chocolate muffins lemon meringue pie rocky road did a lovely sunday lunch for Nikki jon and brad and now she is in Spain dropped her off at humberside airport this lunch time back on friday.

Joe and Luke having a good restful holiday after a busy term at school\luke did well getting three awards for geography french and pe and joes parents evening went well, not up to much watching telly playing on the trampoline playing on the ps3 and the wii. Lukes football team is doing ok they are still on course to win the gradley league if they can win all their remaining games and are in the county cup final, clee mariners got a bit of a shock when we beat them in the league after they beat us in the cup they thought the league was theirs then they got beat off healing hotspurs who they still have to play again.

The garden is coming along planted a few more plants inthe border and sprinkled afew more seeds in, the veg plot is coming on onions garlic swede carrots are all sprouting had a bad case of damping in the green house and lost quite a lot of plants resown the seeds so try again.

getting used to the kitchen the house feels finished now and we are both delighted with it.

Kitchen Complete Life is sweet

Mid March kate ia away in Italy this week, Luke played his first Rugby match for the school he scored two trys and two conversions and was really happy even though they lost against Cordeux. Joe's drunmming is coming on a treat he is practicing every day and it shows. Changed the games room round and put the games consoles in there out of the way with the old telly.

Went to woodthorpe Garden centre and bought a few more plant for the garden and then planted about 100 bulbs in pots. The vegetables are coming on a treat in the green house which seems to have with stood the gales we had this weekend.

Mintech made hard work of their Game on saturday but eventually won 5 0 I worry for them in the matches to come they seem to have gone of the boil.

will be glad to get this week out of the way as kates not back till friday long week

Shame to hear about Lance Armstrongs fall which puts his TDF in doubt speedie recovery to U

United falter again at Fulham losing 2 0 Liverpool now 1 point behind very close and keeping the interest up.

Lastly we got tickets to see U2 at sheffield cant wait.

First Meal in New Kitchen

at last after 3 weeks of george forman and a microwave we are back in our kitchen its new its designer and its white and purple its totally cool a few things to finish off . we need to get a clock coffee machine tv table and chairs and blinds to completely finish it will take time.

Garden is coming on slowly veg is starting to come along. The green house is doing me well and the palnts are coming nicely seating area ready for stones and first cut of thegrass has been done just want to start planting my veg and flowers in the ground.

Minteq won today 5 0 United got beat off Fulham with 9 men but chelsea lost need villa to beat liverpool tomorrow.

Luke getting an award on the 2nd of april for good work at school.

Boys bought their mum a gift token for kenwick park so she can have a treatment

getting a new racing bike a cinelli joe is having my bianci so we can ride together

weather getting better the lid is off my lotus and i am enjoying it.

SaT 14 FEELS LIKE FRID 13TH

WHAT A DAY Lukes team only drew 4 4 although he had the best game I have seen him play all season. On the way home the electician rang to say he had problems finding the wires he had put in for our lights in the kitchen cieling as the plasterer had plastered over them so we end up with 8 extra holes in the cieling than we wanted cause it was a lack of communication that will cost me 150 pounds to put it right these so called profesional tradesman piss me off. Then united go and lose to liverpool 4 1 can u f believe it i just wanted to scream at everyone to go away and leave me in peace.

Anyway being a rational human being nobody died we will get lights in our cieling and re plaster and paint it again and it will look like new. went out for pizza very nice and had a few glasses of wine to take the edge off, think i need to look for another job now money a bit tight and got a chance to get anoher nvq position not what i want to do but needs must.

we will have a tremendous kitchen in the end.

Planting Vegetables Outside for the first time

Today amongst the wind and the rain and the kitchen fitters I actually planted my forst seeds outside in my new veg plot, I have been palnning it since last autumn dug it over manureded it raised beds were made and its all fenced off so the pesky rabbits cant get in. So being a novice gardener what do intend to grow, for starters it will be stuff we like and will eat, so i have gone for traditional veg potatoes carrots, swede with celairiac as about extravagant as it gets at the moment. \I have been growing veg in my green house so far as small plants so it will be interesting to see how they compare. i also planted some sunflowers and yellow poppys today, so the garden is coming on nicely.

the kitchen fitters came today and started fitting the units they got on really well and its starting to take shape, we should be all done in a couple of weeks or so. it was a bit of a rush though getting it all painted after the plasterer had been, but we managed in between watching Luke play football losing 5 2 to appleby \frod they can kiss goodbye that title, they made up for it on sunday with a 10 0 win in the sunday league so they are still in that as well as 3 cups two of which are finals.

\joe was at a party on sat in the next village along one of his freinds Amy who he goes to school with he had a good time. Just put the seat up on my oldracer so we can go out together when I get my new bike and he gets some shoes. Kate away tonight in \rygate saw her on \Msn so that was good tried to show her the progress of the kitchen so far but quite difficult as it was dark.
She was tired as she was up at 5 this morning hopefully she will have a couple of days off end of this week.

United got a great draw against everton in the FA cup eassier than chelsea or the arse but still tough, think they will go out of the euro though on wed against inter, just got a feeling.

Plasterers, electricians and unlucky plumbing

The kitchen is coming along nicely, ripped it out last tuesday thought it would take 2 days but only took one, the electrician came in and did first fix on thursday and friday and finished off on monday then in came the plasterer yesterday and today. In the middle of all that the valves on the boilerstarted leaking so had to call the plumber again luckily he was only in the village so he come and sorted us out. We are currently living without a kitchen and doing ok we cooked a load of meals and pasta and rice and froze them so that we had food to microwave and we have put some of our old units in the games room asa makeshift kitchen, so far so good apart from the plasterer not pulling throught the light cables for the electrician to do the fittings.

the weather is getting warmer if not dryer i have sowed lots of veg seeds cauli sprouts broccoli, cabbage tomatoes, chilli, celeriac, swede, onions, sweetcorn and have sown lots of perenials all starting to sprout in the green hoiuse and the spring bulbs are starting to come up .

Last weekend we went home it was my mums 70th birthday and went out for a meal with all th clan it was an ok evening, had to be up eqarly for the next day Luke was playing football in the county cup semi final. They won on penalties after going behind twice and scoring an equaliser in the last minute. so this year they are in the final of the county cup the final of the caparo cup and second so far in the scunthorpe league and 4th in the gradley league with afew games in hand.
Kate been over in Flint this week back tonight thankfully.

Joe packed in athletics at school didnt want to do it anymore, fair enough.

ordered a new road cycle its a cinelli italian make red nicely specced and quite light for the price
have to get back into training after the kitchen is sorted havent done anything for a couple of months, feeling really lazy apart from aikido, going to go for a run tonight while luke is training.

United won the carling cup this weekend which we watch at the pub then went folr sunday lunch. They won again last night beat the geordies 2 1 after a dodgy start. Friday tomorrow so going to have a quiet one.
