January 27. 2010, just started a new job for the NHS as a gardener / driver for the mental health department. They have lots of projects on the go so plenty to get my teeth into and with this week mainly taken up with induction I cant wait to start.
Havent blogged for a while so christmas and new year has come and gone the boys are now 13 and 15 and growing up quick. The worst of the weather is hopefully behind us and as February approaches we can start planting seeds and growing stuff. The chickens are still giving us eggs and with winter out of the way they will start laying more and we can sll them again. Getting back out on the bike now the weather is ok and picking up going to start biking to work son as I am settled in. Looking forward to this year have a holiday learning to ski continue with improving garden.

August
August and the weather hasnt been great for summer holidays so far but its great for the veg garden, so far we have had, cabbage garlic, onions, calabrese, lettuce, beetroot, swede, potatoes,beans not bad for a first year, must remember not to plant things so close next time but its a learning curve and we are pleased with our progress. It is such buz going down to the bottom of the gardenand digiing up spuds and picking a cabbage and beans or calabrese and then cooking it and having it within an hour or less of digging it up.
The chickens are laying well and giving us 6 eggs a day we have regular customers who we sell to and I must say they taste great we get enough money to buy their food so they are self sufficient.
Minteq won the final tournament of the summer at Appleby Frodingham on one of the most miserable days weather wise I can remember they beat the holders Epworth 2 1 in the final all the parents were wishing we hd gone out a lot earlier.
The Kids broke up from school Luke got another great report from school and as a reward got the new Man Utd kit and are having a good summer getting up when they want playing out with their freinds ( and girlfreind in Joes case) just relaxing and unwinding.
I went snowboarding over in Xscape and met Jim who was on a sking lesson he really enjoyed it. Still cycling a lot and Aikido has finished for the summer but the football season starts soon.
Kate has not been away recently but then has two trips back to back in Italy and the the Czech republic, she is looking forward to her two week break and hopefully th weather will improve.
Going to see U2 in just over 2 weeks really looking forward to it
Had a BBQ the first one of the year on saturday night a complete washout we all ended up inside but a good evening had by all despite the weather.

JULY
So into July Joe is away at cadet camp with the school for 7 days down in shrewsbury, he is doing ok we think. Luke had his football presentation with discoveries minteq, he got Parents player of the year which was a good award and well deserved after a good season.
The team won the 5 aside Grainthorpe tournament and last sunday won the Louth 5 aside Tournament on penalties all scoring there pens.
The weather has uptil now been changeable hot windy with heavy showers, just perfect for the veg planted whicha re all doing well and we have started harvesting and using the veg. The chickens are still producing eggs and we are selling them and that is paying for their food.
We went to the lakes at then end of June with Jim amd Claire, to a house owned by Jims freind near Pooley Bridge. Great weekend the house was amazing and looking forward to go back.
Luke ran in the district sports day yesterday and ran the 800 metres and came second he was very pleased with that.

Its June
June is here
the boys have done their exams and done well, Blackpool football tournament came and went without incident the boys got to the 1/4 finals and lost 3-2 good weekend had by all.
Kate is away in the states at the moment there is a big shuffle going on at work so we will watch this space. I applied for a postmans job but doidnt get it so thus far unemployed still. We went snowboarding for a couple of hours earlier in the month when the kids were off and Kate had a ski ing lesson for 3 hours we all enjoyed it.
The Garden is coming along plants are springing up and the veg plot is blooming too with all the veg seeming to do well. The chickens are still giving us eggs and we are selling them now. Been cycling a lot on my new bike and watching the Giro and the Dauphene on the laptop and opened up a twitter account.

middle of May
everything is growingthe weather has been ok very windy this week but we got some progress on the growing veg stakes. we have had good pickings on the first sowing of lettuce more on the way onions and garlic progressing nicely parsnips and carrots and swede coming on nicely potatoes and leeks are growing well and seeds for toms peppers chilllis are under way not to mention peas sweetcorn beans and celeriac. Chickens are doing fine at least 4 eggs daily need to sell them now, sign is up.
Kate away in Italy again boys doing ok Joe finished his exams went ok Luke has been told he will be a gifted student in PE a letter is in the post, his eyes are ok no more visits to hospital. I have applied for a postmans job interview on Friday.

County Cup makes a winning weekend
what a weekend lots of good food drink and company brother and his girlfreind came over for the weekend saturday was good as United won 2 0 against the boro my brothers team we then started to walk back home and luke saw an icecream van asked if he could have one we said if he flagged it down and it stopped then he could and it did.
Chickens still laying well 6 the last couple and then 4 today.
It was Lukes footbal teams County Cup final played at Lincoln City Football ground the team and all its fans were there we were in the dressing rooms and the kids played on the pitch, nice playing surface. Kick off came we were under pressure straight a way fornthe first ten minutes Moorland railway were a strong physical side but they couldnt play football like our boys. we broke and were up 1 0 it stayed like that until half time the teams were evenly matched both having missed chances. Second half we were under pressure again and they eventually scored to equalisefrom a shot that our keeper nearly saved. we started palying again and Luke got the ball on the left weaved passed two players then got ytaken down in the box the ref pointed to the spot and we got a pen JF stood up to take it and then missed it but was alert enough to get the rebound 2 1 they the got a free kick on the edge of the box and scored a second equaliser. we then pushed on a great ball out to the wing by RB to luke who again went on a jinky run and the shot with his left foot and scored the winning goal winning 3 2 to become County Cup champions
Fabulous team effort they all played excellent !!!!!
And so its May I have applied for a post office Job but as yet not heard anything Kate going off to Germany tomorrow.

Chicks give us six anWii all having fun
Yesterday sunday the 26th our chickens gave us 6 eggs thats one each for the first time we were delighted. Had a nice weekend this weekend, visited freinds on sat night luke played epworth league winners on sat and lost 2 1 played well then on sunday played clee herons iuf they won the game they won the gradley league, beat herons 7 1 took the title off clee mariners by a point to show that they are the best team in the Gradley league, so thats a The scunthorpe Caparo Cup and The gradley league thay have won spo far a week today it is the County cup played at Lincoln City football ground.
Joe and I were back at aikido on Friday night went well. We then went out on our bikes on Sunday Morning for a 10 mile ride just to get Joe used to riding the racing bike. He did well.
I got my new bike on thursday Cinelli experience in red very nice took it over the wolds on Friday and did about 25 miles nice ride if not a bit windy.
The wii fit board came last week also so we have all been using it lots doing yoga running and various games very competitve and lots of fun.
No job yet I am applying for a postmans job in louth but so will hundreds of others, nothing els has come up.
